Where is Rowan Located?

Rowan is currently a Resident Artist at Inkology Tattoo Art Gallery in NYC. All appointments will be for NYC unless specifically booked for a different location.

She is also a “Resident Guest” with Central Tattoo Studio in Philadelphia.

Guest spots/conventions will be posted about in the newsletter and on instagram!

How do I set up a tattoo appointment with Rowan?

Please sign up for the newsletter to be notified when Rowan’s books open. A link to fill out a form will be included in that newsletter and will also be available on this website and Instagram.

There will also be emails to fill last minute availability as well (when necessary).

Scheduling priority will be given to:

Ongoing projects

Existing clients

Large scale projects

“Nerd” related projects (games, books, movies, tv, subcultures)

Anime/Manga/cartoon panels (i.e. Demon Slayer, Berserk, Cyberpunk 2077, etc)

Floral/Fauna projects

NO Color projects

NO Dragons or Phoenixes

NO Script or lettering, names, numbers or symbols.

The exception to this is lettering in existing images like anime panels, and if you wanted to include handwriting in a bigger piece where it is not the only element.

NO Cover Ups

The exception to this is if the tattoo has been sufficiently lasered off and a “blastover” look is ok with you.

NO Re-works or finishing other artist’s unfinished work.

Does Rowan also have Flash I can choose from?

Yes! While Rowan mainly does custom design work, if you were interested in booking some of her flash designs you can see them HERE. There are only predrawn designs here, not * wanna-do * panels. The flash designs are password protected to avoid AI theft. Please sign up for the newsletter for access to the flash page!

How do consults work?

If your idea is selected during a booking period, your consultation will be 100% through email. Please make sure to have your references ready, as well as a photo of the area you wish to have tattooed!

Do I get to see a design before my appointment?

No! Rowan does not send designs out before your appointment. There will be time in the beginning of your appointment to go over and make small adjustments as needed to make sure that the design is something you love 100% before going onto your body. If the adjustments require a complete re-draw a new appointment may need to be booked. Please make sure to check out Rowan’s Portfolio to make sure her style aligns with your project!

How far is Rowan Booked?

Rowan currently books in 3 month blocks. This means her books reopen 4 times a year, though spots are more limited.

Can I use numbing cream?

Rowan would prefer it if you did not! While the idea of numbing cream is great (no pain?! I wish it was that easy) the implementation of it is not so great. It tends to make the skin “chewy” or tougher to tattoo, which can lead to some healing difficulties. When you let your body naturally deal with the pain, it numbs itself out over time allowing you to sit better for longer. Imagine going from 0-100 in pain when the cream wears off, that does not sound like a good time for anyone!

Does Rowan offer touch ups?

Touch ups are offered at Rowan's discretion, as long as the tattoo is not over a year old.

I sent in a request, what do I do now?

It may take a while for Rowan to go through all new requests, please be patient and please do not double email.

What do I wear to my tattoo appointment?

Something comfy that allows access to the spot you are getting tattooed. If you are getting something on your sternum or back, a loose button-up is a great option (and pasties will be provided if needed). If you are getting something on your hips, a tie bikini bottom is preferred so that the area can be accessed for stenciling and tattooing. A tank top is best for upper arm tattoos.

Tattoos are expensive, should I tip?

It is customary practice to tip your tattooer for their services, like you would tip a restaurant, bartender, or nail salon. There is no set "rule" for tipping and it is never required but is always appreciated. The cost of your tattoo only takes into account the admin labor required to get you into the chair (emailing, drawing, marketing) while tipping can be a way to show appreciation for the active experience you had in the chair with your artist.

People most commonly tip between 15-30% for their tattoo session, as a lot of of your tattoo costs also go towards your artist paying shop rent, NYC sales & income taxes, and supply costs. Cash tips are always appreciated, but to reiterate, never required.
